Future Directions in Business Valuation Board Overview
Future Directions in Business Valuation Board (FDiBVB)

The Future Directions in Business Valuation Board (FDiBVB) is a pioneering initiative by BVIUK and the first of its kind among valuation professional organisations (VPOs) globally. This innovative Board is dedicated to providing expert guidance and insights on the most topical and emerging issues facing the business valuation profession on a global scale.

Serving as a platform for forward-thinking ideas, the FDiBVB addresses the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly evolving landscape of business valuation. Its primary focus is to offer strategic input and develop recommendations on emerging issues, ensuring BVIUK Members and the global valuation community are prepared to navigate these complex and dynamic areas.
The Board Leader and Members are elected by BVIUK’s Executive Management (EM) for a fixed two-year term. These individuals are selected for their expertise, professional standing, and ability to contribute meaningfully to the Board’s mission.

The FDiBVB works collaboratively with Executive Management, Members, and stakeholders to provide meaningful contributions that align with BVIUK’s overarching strategy. The Board’s work is designed to complement the direction set by the Executive Management while offering valuable insights to support informed decision-making.

Responsibilities, Meetings, and Reporting

The FDiBVB provides insights and guidance on emerging issues, working closely with the Executive Management to ensure its contributions align with the organisation’s strategic priorities.

The Board is required to hold regular monthly meetings at a scheduled time. These meetings serve as a forum for discussion, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. To maintain transparency and strengthen collaboration, all meetings are open to the Executive Management.

To ensure accountability, the Leader of the FDiBVB delivers periodic updates to the Executive Management and prepares an annual report on the Board’s activities and achievements. This report is published in BVIUK’s journal, The Valuer, sharing the Board’s contributions and insights with the broader business valuation community.

A key feature of the FDiBVB is its oversight of Policy Councils focused on specific forward-looking topics, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. The Leader of the FDiBVB ensures that the work of these Policy Councils aligns with the Board’s objectives and provides regular updates on their progress.

Through its forward-thinking initiatives, the FDiBVB plays an essential role in shaping the future of the business valuation profession, supporting BVIUK Members and the global valuation community with guidance on emerging topics and fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability.
