Masterclass: From Idea to Exit – Valuing Startups Across the Growth JourneyInstructor: Bilal NoorgatDate: [11th December 6 pm GMT] | Online | 3 CPD Credits
This BVIUK Masterclass explores the valuation of startups across the full spectrum of their development, from seed-stage concepts through to high-growth scaling and eventual exit.
Traditional valuation approaches often fall short when applied to early-stage companies. This session addresses the specific challenges practitioners face when valuing startups and equips participants with practical methods and critical judgment needed for high-quality work in this space.
Key topics include:
The stages of startup development and the valuation approaches most appropriate to each phase
Why standard models such as DCF, market multiples, and cost-based methods often fail in early-stage settings
Introduction to startup-specific valuation techniques including the Scorecard Method, Berkus Method, and Venture Capital Method
Understanding preference shares, liquidation preferences, participating rights, and other deal terms that materially affect valuation
The role of qualitative factors such as founding team, product-market fit, traction, competition, and market size in shaping investor perception and valuation outcomes
This session is ideal for valuation professionals, analysts, and corporate finance practitioners who work with early-stage ventures or are looking to build capability in this high-growth segment.
