7th Virtual Expert Summit

Valuation Under Pressure: Judgement, Technology, and Uncertainty

Date: 21 May 2026

Time: 6:00 – 8:00 pm BST

Format: Live virtual discussion via ZOOM

The BVIUK Virtual Expert Summit returns for its seventh edition, bringing together a global group of valuation experts for a focused and engaging discussion on the issues shaping current practice.

Our summits are built around open exchange. Each session brings together experienced practitioners from different jurisdictions and backgrounds to discuss selected topics, share perspectives, and challenge assumptions. The format is structured yet dynamic: each topic is briefly introduced by a moderator, followed by discussion across the panel and contributions from the wider audience.

This edition centres on the pressures currently facing the valuation profession, from evolving expectations in disputes, through changing approaches to intangible assets, to the impact of artificial intelligence on professional judgement.

The topics for discussion are:

  1. What should courts expect from valuation experts in complex commercial disputes? - moderated by Fernando Da Cruz Vasconcellos (SW Group, UK)

This discussion will examine the expectations placed on valuation experts in dispute contexts, including the role of expert evidence, the articulation of assumptions, and the standard of analysis required when valuations are scrutinised.

  1. Are current approaches to valuing intangible assets keeping pace with modern business models? - moderated by Graham Antrobus (Brand Finance, UK)

As business models evolve, this session will consider whether existing valuation approaches adequately capture the value of intangible assets and how practitioners are adapting their methodologies.

  1. How should valuers approach valuation in distressed or highly volatile markets? - moderated by Josh Shilts (Dean Dorton, US)

This topic will explore how valuation practice responds to uncertainty, including the treatment of risk, the use of market data, and the judgement required in unstable conditions.

  1. Will artificial intelligence transform valuation practice, or will professional judgement remain the central pillar of the profession? - moderated by Ascanio Salvidio (Salvidio & Partners, Italy)

This discussion will consider the growing role of AI in valuation and whether it will reshape practice or remain a tool within a judgement-led profession.

The BVIUK Virtual Expert Summit continues to serve as a platform for international dialogue, professional exchange, and the development of valuation practice across jurisdictions.
